How do you stand out as a new artist?
How do you stand out in a sea of diverse artistry? Should you intentionally seek to stand out? How do you stand out?
These are some of the questions some artists have in the back of their mind. New artists want to stand out and not fit in with the expectations of the industry, and they should strive not to fit in!
Yet, the industry is always looking for the next best thing. Sometimes, what they’re looking for is exactly what you bring to the table. But often times, there’s mixed reactions about who fits in and who doesn’t.
Where do you stand? Do you want to fit in and be like every other artist? Or should you stand out by being unique and yourself?
WHY SHOULD YOU BE UNIQUE?
The beauty of artistry is that it is uniquely designed by every artist who shares their artistry with the world. Why should you be unique?
Your DNA is distinct from any other human on this planet composed of 9 Billion people because YOU are unique and one-of-a-kind.
There is nobody else on planet earth designed like you which obviously makes you UNIQUE!
It IS necessary for you to bring your uniqueness because without it, something lacks in the world.
“Imitation is the best form of flattery.””
Imitating your favorite artists is a wonderful way to discover and promote your artistry — to sound and perform similar to an iconic artist is the highest form of flattery. It also speaks of your level of talent. It’s never easily achievable to be compared to another artist. So if you’re able to imitate another artist, you are definitely talented.
However, trying to sound like another or perform like another artist is not being authentic to your natural design! Why be a copy cat of something that already exists?
Why not add your flavor to all the great talent that exists and give us something new and fresh that we’ve not seen or heard.
STAND OUT BY BEING UNIQUE
The most important thing to remember is that in order for you to stand out in a sea of diverse artistry, you must bring your unique artistry into the world.
You can’t hide it away or think that it’s not good enough to be shared. It MUST be shared
Stand out by showing up in the world! Show up and present your sound and who you are as an artist! Don’t be afraid of your greatness!
Every day make a conscious effort to embrace the responsibility of sharing your greatness whether its on social media or anywhere there’s an audience. You just have to know that you have something unique to give us.
SHINE every opportunity you can and the world will embrace your uniqueness.
